Spain-based Lawal on Wednesday sorted out his work permit issues in Spain and is expected to head to Calabar on Friday."He has called me to confirm that he will be coming in on Saturday.I am sad at the situation but there is nothing I can do.He is ruled out of the Namibia game, but should be available for Malawi and Rwanda,"said Keshi in an exclusive interview.
Lawal made his long-awaited Eagles debut against Peru in last week’s friendly in Lima and has won praise from Keshi, who first scouted him during last year’s 2012 Olympic qualifiers in Morocco where he fired a hat- trick against Algeria.
The former Eagles captain also noted that he was impressed with the spirit in camp, calling on Nigerians to pray for the team."I am impressed at the response level of the players and the spirit is high ahead of the game against Namibia,” he said.“All I want Nigerians to do is pray for the team.
We know every Nigerian wants us to win but they must also play their part by showing support for the team." The Eagles will Thursday begin a once-a-day training at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, match venue for Sunday's World Cup qualifier.
